The Short Answer what actually separates them
As a spec table, all four 2026 candidates beat the baseline. As deltas, they separate into three answers. The two same-family siblings differ by exactly NT$2,000 at identical configuration: the cheaper one already carries IP68, the faster memory generation, 100 W charging and a 30.0% larger battery, and is the lightest and smallest 2026 device here; the dearer one adds a 3 nm chip tier, 30.8% more battery again, Wi-Fi 7 and eSIM — and buys zero extra software support, no camera improvement and no measurable brightness gain, at 16.53 g more. The premium candidate earns its 1.50× price on one capability nothing else offers — an optical telephoto — plus the only 144 Hz panel, aluminium unibody and 32 MP front camera here. The budget candidate is capable at NT$5,890 but is no successor: it removes the ultrawide entirely and loses stabilisation.

Taiwan pricing here rests on one first-party capture rather than a mix of channels. On the manufacturer's own Taiwan store, filtered to an identical 12 GB/512 GB configuration and read the same day, the two same-family siblings are NT$11,999 and NT$13,999 — a NT$2,000 step, or 16.67%. That is the only fully like-for-like price comparison in this document. Both carry a struck list price exactly NT$2,000 above the model's launch list — a uniform uplift that inflates the advertised saving on both without distorting the gap between them, so the real cuts are NT$1,000 and NT$2,000 rather than the advertised NT$3,000 and NT$4,000. Against the cheapest authorised dealer the store sits NT$309 over on the smaller sibling and NT$9 over on the larger. The budget model sells at NT$5,890 in a smaller 8 GB/256 GB configuration, quoted by 40 separate retailers. The premium candidate is the exception: no street price exists in any Taiwanese source reached — the largest local price-comparison platform shows 無報價, no quote — so only its NT$17,990 list price can be cited.

- The zoom question comes first. Only the (4a) Pro has an optical telephoto — at 1.50× the cheaper sibling's price and 1.29× the larger one's, and at the cost of a chip tier, a memory generation and an OS update.
- The NT$2,000 sibling step is the clearest trade here. It buys 30.8% more battery, a 3 nm chip tier, Wi-Fi 7 and eSIM; it buys no extra software support, no camera change and 16.53 g.
- Match the configuration before comparing prices. The smaller sibling's widely quoted NT$9,790 is an 8 GB/256 GB unit; set against a 12 GB/512 GB rival it overstates the gap by NT$2,209.
- Read struck-through prices against launch list, and treat deep marketplace discounts with care. Both siblings' struck prices sit exactly NT$2,000 above their launch lists; and listings well below the authorised-dealer floor are likely parallel imports without local warranty.
- Verify the ingress rating before relying on it. The (4a) Pro's is disputed between IP65 and IP68 and the maker publishes no figure; both X8 models' IP68 is consistent across sources.
- Weigh the support clock and the date on every price. The baseline's security updates end around March 2028 and its OS updates stop at Android 17; every candidate extends that to roughly 2032. All figures read 1–2 Aug 2026; no promotion carried a published end date.
Where it lands
Three questions, not one. The premium candidate answers only the zoom question, at 1.50× the cheapest 2026 candidate. The larger sibling answers the headroom question for NT$2,000 — and nothing at all on software life or camera. The smaller sibling answers neither and gives up least: IP68, LPDDR5X / UFS 4.1, 100 W and the same four-OS commitment, at 66.7% of the premium price. And whichever is chosen, the high-resolution ultrawide does not survive the move.
The unresolved items
Five points remain unsettled: the (4a) Pro's ingress rating (three sources IP65, one IP68, the maker publishes none); the smaller X8's fingerprint type; the larger X8's behaviour under sustained load; whether the larger X8's local retail box contains its charger; and whether the budget model ships Wi-Fi 5 or 6. All five are reported as conflicts, not as facts.
